South Bay Blue Star MomsThe South Bay Blue Star Moms (SBBSM) came together again on Saturday, November 17 for another care packaging session. Approximately 320 boxes were packaged for the troops, and this particular event marked the first time that every individual soldier will receive a "special holiday box" from SBBSM's. These boxes will represent the holidays that won't be spent with their loved ones who are out on deployment. KBAY also brought by donations to help with a future packaging event. » read more

Generous Gilroyans Help Out a Wounded Soldier & a Graduate of Gilroy HighA big thank you to community members of Gilroy donating more than $1,200 to help the family of U.S. Army Pfc. Danny Perry who is recuperating from wounds suffered when he was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq in late February. Pfc. Danny Perry is a 2004 Gilroy High School graduate. He is currently at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. but will be transferred to the VA Hospital in Palo Alto soon. » read more

Moms' Support: The local chapter of Blue Star MomsAt the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains, Cupertino's Merriman Road seems to be far way from Iraq. Suburban and serene, Merriman Road is a long street fronted by a sign cautioning drivers to go slow when children are playing and lined with basketball hoops, trees and ranch-style homes. Even so, Merriman is closer to the war in Iraq than one might think. » read more
